Simple ways to celebrate this Valentine's Day
With life as busy as it is, we're making this Valentine's Day all about spending some good quality time together. In that spirit, we've rounded up our favourite (not to mention inexpensive) ways to show you care - from cooking something delicious to running them a bath, or finding the perfect film to curl up with - tea in hand, of course...
That said, if staying in isn't your (or their) thing, check out what we've been loving this week from some of our Good & Proper partners - from mouthwatering toasties to natural wines and trips to the seaside.
Take them a cup of tea
It is no surprise that our idea of a great day starts and ends with a great cup of tea, but there really is nothing like being treated to one in bed. So whether it's an English Breakfast, Assam or something herbal, don't miss out on this easy win on Valentine's Day - and make sure it's a proper one!
Get outside together
Fresh air not only cleans the lungs, boosts your immune system, increases energy levels and promotes healthier sleep, it's also proven to make you happy! Leave your phones behind, grab a coat and a flask and head into the great outdoors. Whether just a stroll in the local park or somewhere further field, a little one-on-one time, side by side, is always a good thing.
Cook something new and delicious
Valentine's is a Tuesday night, so you don't need to cook up a storm, but enjoying delicious food together, at the kitchen table, can still feel pretty special. This month Anna Jones reminds us of the pure comfort of noodles and how restorative and personal something like a big bowl of noodle soup can be. We're currently loving her Lime and Double Ginger Soba Noodles.
If you want to finish the evening off with flair, you can't beat a really good pud too. Impress your loved one with another of our favourites from Alexandra Dudley shows us how to impress with her Pear and Almond Tart.
Run them a bath
Sinking in to a hot bath is the perfect way to soothe away any aches, stresses and to simply hit pause and relax - and if someone else has run it for you you can't help but feel pretty lucky. Make it a particularly good one with one of the beautiful bath products from our friends at Land & Water.
"An invitation to press pause, breathe deep and bathe in nature’s bounty. Whether you’re a leisurely soak or scrub-and-go sort, our mood-boosting, skin-refreshing recipes for bath and shower offer an indulgent way to wind down – or wake up".
Choose a film to watch
Let's be honest, doing the research and getting a film ready to go is already a treat like no other - no more sofa scrolling trying to decide what to watch. Looking for a little inspo? Set the scene with The Stylist's list of rom coms to fall in love with this year (and for our fellow south-east Londoners, the list includes the soon to be released film Rye Lane)
If your other half is lucky enough to benefit from even just one of the above 'treats' then I'm sure they'll feel appreciated. That said, if staying in on Valentine's Day isn't quite going to hit the spot, then why not check out a few ideas from our Good & Proper partners...
