Our Tea
Tea, done properly.
At Good & Proper, we are on a mission to show you just how good tea can be, when it’s done properly. But bringing you the best-tasting cups of tea doesn’t happen by accident - it starts with an obsession over the details, from the producers we buy from to the way you brew them and much more in between. The result? A delicious cup of tea, every time.
Sourced with care
We work closely with producers across India, China, Japan, Sri Lanka, and beyond - people who share our values and our commitment to quality. These are farms, gardens, and co-operatives who understand their craft better than anyone, and who are as proud of the tea they grow as we are to serve it.
Our sourcing is built on trust, long-term relationships, and producing tea in a way that respects both people and planet. And because we know where the teas come from - often personally - we can share their stories with you.
Better leaves, better flavour
Each of our teas is selected by our founder, Emilie, who has spent over a decade sourcing and tasting the best whole-leaf teas from around the world. That means thousands of samples, endless tastings, and one simple test: is it a cup of tea worth talking about?
We select only whole leaves - never ‘dust’ or fannings - because size matters. Bigger leaves take a little longer to brew, but mean more complexity, more aroma, and more depth of flavour in your cup. It’s a big part of why our teas taste so good.
We then look for bright, vibrant liquors and character that stands out above the rest. Single-origin teas that taste of where they come from - whether that’s the malty richness of an Assam, the muscatel notes of a 2nd Flush Darjeeling, or the toasty sweetness of Japanese Hojicha. No flavourings, nothing artificial - just extraordinary teas, chosen for delicious flavour above all else.
Why it’s different
So what makes our tea better? It’s not one thing — it’s everything. The leaves. The origin. The relationships. The tasting. The brewing. We focus on getting all of that right, so whether it’s your morning English Breakfast or your afternoon Earl Grey, the tea tastes just as it should. And once you’ve tasted tea done properly, there’s no going back. That’s why the best cafes, restaurants and hotels across the UK choose to serve Good & Proper to their customers. And why more and more tea drinkers at home are choosing us to fill their cups each day too.
