I love this tea, I think it’s one of the nicest breakfast blends out there. The addition of Darjeeling in the blend makes it really special and flavoursome.
I make the Brockley Breakfast blend a tiny bit weak (not too weak) so that it’s good without milk and it makes a very bright and refreshing cup of tea for any time of day. Its a good blend of flavours. I’m very happy with my purchase and glad I bought the 500gm bag.
Brockley Breakfast was our first foray into blending over 4 years ago, and was originally created for our team to serve at Festivals. We needed a delicious, all day breakfast tea that was going to both draw tired festival-goers out of their tents in the morning, with enough punch to kick them back into action, but also something suitably lovely and refreshing on a warm summery afternoon. The blend was so popular that customers would often follow up when the season was over, wondering if they could buy some to enjoy at home. We named it our South East London home, where it was, at the time, blended and packed by hand. It continues to be one of our favourites and is what we would recommend to any of our Hospitality partners looking to serve something a bit more interesting than your typical breakfast tea.
For our first blend, it felt natural to turn to four of our favourite single-origin black teas - each bringing a different dimension to the cup. We needed a good, strong base, and for this we looked to Assam in North Eastern India and Kenya. Assam is the second largest tea growing region in the world and one we have etc etc Khongea Estate, Assam. Kangaita, Kirinyaga District, Kenya. St Andrews Estate, Dimbula, Sri Lanka. Glenburn Estate, Darjeeling, India.
We work hard to find, taste and select exceptional teas, first and foremost looking for quality and flavour in the cup. We focus on single-origin, whole leaf teas where the character is a direct reflection of the area in which it is grown, as well as the craft involved in growing, plucking and processing the leaves.
There are an infinite number of teas being produced every year, so our role is to find and bring you some of the best. Our care in curating the range, as well as the quality of the product itself, has earned us both our customers’ trust and multiple Great Taste awards.
Sourcing
Not only does the tea need to taste good, it is also important to us that we know exactly where each tea comes from and who is responsible for harvesting and crafting the leaves we buy.
