How to make a Hojicha Latte
All the flavour and less of the caffeine, our Hojicha Powder makes a warming latte for any time of the day. It's the perfect blend of roasted nutty, caramel-like sweetness, and traditionally enjoyed as an after-dinner treat in Japan.
Here's how we make ours:
What you need
- 3g Good & Proper Hojicha Powder
- Bamboo Matcha whisk
- Chawan or Matcha bowl
- 30ml 80°C water (add some cold to water just off the boil if you don't have a temperature controlled kettle)
- Your preferred milk (we suggest oat milk)
Method for making Hojicha Latte
- Sieve 3g of Hojicha powder into a small, high-sided bowl or Matcha bowl (Chawan)
- Add a little of your hot (not boiling) water & whisk into a smooth paste until no lumps remain
- Add the remaining hot water & whisk using a zig-zag motion into a smooth froth
- Steam milk (If you're at home - heat in a pan until it just starts to simmer. For an extra velvety finish, pour your hot milk into a cafetiere and pulse up and down enthusiastically for 30 seconds!).
- Pour milk over your shot to serve
