This beautiful, delicately spiced chai is crafted in small batches by the team at Amba Estate, an organic farm perched high in the Uva Highlands in Sri Lanka. Truly artisanal, this single-origin tea is made by blending a hand- rolled Ceylon black tea with organic, locally grown cinnamon, cloves & ginger. The result is a naturally sweet, aromatic chai that is wonderful with or without milk. For something extra comforting on a cold day, add a little honey too...

And just like the rest of our plastic-free packaging, our Guest Tea tubes are fully recyclable.

More about this tea

As a working organic farm, the team grow tea, coffee, fresh vegetables, herbs and spices, and hundreds of fruit trees and vines, but it is for their hand-made teas that they are most well known. To make these fine teas, they pluck only “1 leaf and the bud” from the fresh shoots on top of each tea bush and always first thing in the morning, so they arrive tender and fresh at their tea-making facility before the sun gets too hot. From the slow withering to rolling, to oxidising and finally drying, each of their teas are then processed by hand, with care, and the results are in the delicious flavour in every cup.

Amba's Sumudu Chai as they call it is a blend of mini-rolled Orange Pekoe Ceylon black tea with a mix of organic spices grown on their farm - cinnamon, cloves, and ginger.

Why Tea Deserves Better

For too long, tea in the UK has meant cheap, dusty bags – designed for speed, not taste. As a tea-not-coffee drinker, our founder Emilie wanted more. So in 2012, she bought an old Citroën van, crowdfunded its conversion into a mobile tea bar, and started brewing proper, loose-leaf tea at events and markets around London.

What began in a van has grown into a business on a mission: to show just how good tea can be, when it’s done properly. That means better leaves, sourced with care from producers that align with our values, then brewed properly for maximum flavour. 12 years on, that mission remains the same and Good & Proper is now the proud supplier to the UK’s best cafes, restaurants, hotels and more, as well as to a loyal community of tea drinkers at home.

Our Teas

We work hard to source the best-tasting, whole-leaf teas, from producers around the world that align with our values. From Assam to Matcha, Earl Grey to Darjeeling, every batch is carefully selected by our founder, Emilie. And if it isn’t a cup of tea worth talking about, it doesn’t make the cut.
